My beauty blunder came one Saturday morning when I was home alone with my five-year-old daughter. I was plucking my eyebrows and noticed that my one false eyelash was coming loose at the end.
I hopped out of bed (I was still in bed at the time, as it was just after 7) and ran to the bathroom mirror to have a closer look. Yes, it was indeed coming loose on the edge and it just needed a little bit of glue.
I got myself some super glue and opened the cap, but nothing seemed to be coming out of this tiny little tube. So, I squeezed a bit harder than usual.
The glue exploded onto my face and into my eyes, and my normal human reaction was to shut my eyes close and mouth wide open.
In a matter of seconds, I could not see a thing. My eyes were glued closed.
I got my daughter to bring me my phone, called my sister and she (and her entire family) rushed me to the nearest hospital which was 25 minutes away. I was sobbing all the way.
End result: My contacts saved my eye sight, my lashes all cut away. Phew, what a relief.
But when I looked around in the waiting area, my sister was sitting there with her entire family in their PJs! None of us had a chance to even change. We will never forget that day.
My sister’s new rule, she doesn’t care what happens, she does not leave her house without a proper mirror check.
