Why 'primer' is this season’s beauty buzzword

Primer is one of those magical products that can really enhance your daily make-up look. And it's so easy and quick to apply. Here’s 5 reasons why we are loving this beauty must-have:

It seals pores

Have big, visible pores? According to AllWomentalk.com, unlike liquid foundation, primer actually makes pores appear smaller. It seals them, setting the canvas for your foundation or BB cream to be applied.

Remember to use primer very sparingly as you really don’t need a lot. Apply by gently rubbing it into the skin.

It will make your skin appear smoother

Primer actually helps your skin to appear softer and, thus, smoother. It prepares your skin for the make-up it's about to receive.

Most primers are non-comedogenic

Most primers are actually oil-free. This means that it won’t clog your skin like a lot of foundations do. Applying primer to your face first, before any other product, will actually help avoid make-up build-up.

Make-up stays on for much longer

Primer seals the pores, which means that you will actually sweat less during the day. This will help your make-up to stay on for much longer than without a primer, says AllWomentalk.com.

It adds a glow

According to Allure, primers can actually wake up your dull skin (especially in winter), adding a bit of a glow to your skin.

My favourite primer of the moment is Revlon's PhotoReady™ Perfecting Primer (R141, Takealot.com). It is budget-friendly and works like a bomb.
