How to do a sleek pony in 5 steps

accreditation

We all know that there is almost no hairstyle quite as classic as the ponytail. Wear it high, low, sleek or even wet - the ponytail will always be a winner with any outfit.

Actress Bryce Dallas Howard slayed at the Jurassic World Premiere. It is as good as fact.

Not only was her dress gorgeous, but she brought her entire look home with a modern, sleek ponytail that gave her an edgy, yet elegant look.

Her hair stylist, Adir Abergel, chose this style for her as it complimented the architectural lines on the back of her dress.

Luckily, this look is not limited to formal occasions. It is the type of style that you can wear at work or when going out - and it is easy to do.

This style is especially great for us Capetonians, desperately fighting the rain each and every day!

Adir shares the step-by-step process on how to do the ponytail:

• First, towel dry wet hair and create a deep side part.

Tip: the part should be lined up with the highest arch of the brow.

• Next, apply a dime-size amount of Moroccanoil Treatment Light from roots-to-ends for a healthy, shiny finish. Use a quarter-size amount of Moroccanoil Styling Gel to shape the bangs and give them long-lasting hold.

• Blow dry hair smooth and flat then flat-iron the ends for an ultra-sleek finish.

• Keep the bangs still sweeping to the side while brushing the remaining hair back into a ponytail and secure with elastic.  Apply a generous spritz of hairspray for a good hold.

• Merge the side-swept bang section into the ponytail for a polished and edgy ponytail.

• To finish and flatten fly-aways, smooth Moroccanoil Styling Gel over the roots and spray with more hairspray.
