At least once a month, one of the girls in the office will send a discrete e-mail asking if anyone has tampons. We’ve all been there and you would have thought after all this time, we’d remember to have at least one emergency tampon or pad stashed in your bag. But that’s just one of the items on our checklist. Make sure you have all nine of these before you leave home.
1) Lip gloss/lipstick: Try keeping your handbag make-up stash to the minimum, but always make sure that you have one lipstick or lip gloss on hand. Especially if you’ve had a long day and intend on going straight into the night, you’ll need to touch up.
2) Mascara and eye liner: Along with your lipstick, keep these two items in your handbag. A quick touch up will make tired eyes appear bright and it will instantly freshen up your face.
3) Tampons/sanitary towels: Sometimes we lose track of time and before we know it, oops, it’s that time of the month again. So always make sure that you’re prepared. Keep at least one tampon or sanitary towel in your handbag, because even if you don’t need it chances are somebody else will anyway.
4) Emergency cash: Even if you carry your bank card around in your purse, it’s important to keep some emergency cash stashed away in your handbag. No, we’re not talking hundreds here, just enough for a public phone, some chewing gum or a taxi ride.
5) Safety Gadget: You never know when you might be faced with danger. There’s not harm in carrying some pepper spray.
6) Chewing gum: I don’t think this one needs much of an explanation. We all need it at some point, especially after meals on the go.
7) Nail polish: If you’re nails are painted a bright colour, keep your paws pretty by keeping the same bottle of nail polish in your bag in case of chipping.
8) Hand & body refresher wipes: It’s great to keep these in your handbag, especially if you’re heading out after work. They’ll make you feel like you’ve done exactly what you need to do.
9) Body spray: Keep a compact bottle of perfume or body spray in your handbag. After using refresher wipes, spray some on and you’ll be feeling fresh and clean.
