Create a new and improved you!

accreditation
"New Year, new you" is often an accurate way of describing ones aspirations and resolutions at the beginning of the year. When it comes to your look, the New Year is a good time to re-assess and ask yourself the question, "Is it time for a change?" If the resounding answer to this question is yes, then you are ready. So how does one go about change without feeling completely overwhelmed by the process?

Here are a few clever ideas on how to create inspired and sustainable change:

Go back to basics
Go through your wardrobe and take out all your basic items; black trousers, jeans, basic skirts, basic blouses etc. Which items do you wear and feel fabulous in? You most likely have five pairs of black trousers, but only wear one pair. Try them all on and take note of what makes a good fit and what doesn't. Give away the pairs that don't work. It's no use having a wardrobe full of clothes that you don't wear.

What is your wardrobe personality? Which items in your wardrobe express your personality, flair and personal style? If you don't have any, it's time to put some panache and personality back into your look. If you do, are you happy with what they express or do you want to tweak your look? Remember that your look communicates to the outside world who you are. If it is not accurate, it's time to change that. Before hitting the stores in a desperate search for your new look, give some thought beforehand to what look you want to create and ask yourself if the item you wish to buy is going to give you the desired look. Resolve to only buy the items that are just right.

Small changes can make a big difference
Drastic changes can leave you feeling a little overwhelmed and vulnerable if you are not ready for it. It's all about baby steps. You will be surprised what a big difference a few small changes can make towards transforming your look. A new hair cut, a daring pair of chandelier earrings or a sexy pair of heels you would have never had the guts to wear before, can prepare you for bigger changes when you are ready for them.

Whatever look you decide to create this year, I always encourage women to follow these two rules of thumb:

Dress to suit your body shape; and create a look that reflects who you are.

Whether it's small or big changes, make this year one to remember. Dare to embrace who you are and show it to the world!
