How to wear a bra

Don't underestimate the power of a good bra, because wearing the right one will not only make you look and feel sexier and more confident, but it will also do wonders for your posture!

If you've ever worn a loose, strapless bra, then chances are that you've probably spent the entire day hunched over, hoping it won't sink down to your navel.

Make sure you get the right fit.

If your straps are digging into your shoulders or if your breasts look as if they are suffocating in your cup, it's definitely time to buy a bigger bra.

A proper fitted bra should neither be too tight nor too loose – in fact, the right bra will lie smoothly and comfortably against your body.

Now, the question is: How do you wear it?
1.    Never wear a black bra under a white top. Skip the lace trims and bright colours, and find a bra that's nude – or as close to your skin colour as possible – that way, it won't be visible under your top. And, yes, the same applies for sheer blouses. You should never see anything more than the outline of your bra through your top.

2.    The right amount of cleavage is sexy. But, when your breast tissue billows out, it will seem as though you're wearing a bra three sizes too small. You don't have to stifle your breasts to get a sexy cleavage - get yourself a padded bra!

Top tip:

If people are seeing four breasts instead of two, go up a cup size. Even better? Get a fitting done so you can make sure you're wearing the right cup size.

3.    If your straps keep slipping down your shoulders, tighten them up or you’ll look sloppy and untidy. There's a reason why it's called underwear – no-one wants to see any part of it!

Top tip:

Wearing a bra is not just a matter of appropriateness, it's a necessity. Especially if you have had a baby, have gained weight… heck, just ageing in general affects your breasts. Like it or not, the girls are going to get a little saggy.

When wearing low necklines or tank tops, try layering your clothes so that your bra doesn’t stick out, or – if you're daring enough – wear double sided tape.

Need more support?
Try a bandeau, balconette or demi bra. The cups on these bras are specially designed to end lower on your breasts.
