Here are my top tips to wearing the peplum to best suit your shape:
To create curve: The peplum can create an illusion of curve where there is none. If you wear a peplum top or jacket, make sure that it is nipped in the waist and then flared into a peplum hem. This will give an illusion of a smaller waist and curvaceous hips. You can go really wild with a peplum. The more volume, the better. If you prefer a peplum skirt or dress, clench your waist with a belt to ensure a curvaceous silhouette.
To balance your curves: The exaggerated fit and flare of a peplum can work wonders to make your hips look minute in comparison. If you wear a peplum top or jacket, make sure that it is nipped in the waist to keep shape and the length ends just above your widest point. If the peplum ends right on your widest point, it may make you look wider. Be cautious of peplums on skirts. The shape, weight of the fabric and position of the peplum will either make you look slimmer or wider.
