Spring inspired must-haves

accreditation
Interseasonal dressing it's the new black because it serves as your ultimate between-seasons fashion fix.

2010 spring fashion is leaning toward classic pieces with a modern twist.  This includes everything from classic black and white to wild tribal prints and accessories to pretty lace details in nude shades. There is so much to choose from!

To prevent feeling overwhelmed or spending most of your budget on that 'must- have' fashion item that will be 'so 2010' next year, do a little planning and start your checklist with some spring basics. You can wear them now for the 'spring feeling' and they will take you into summer with style.

Here are a few of my favourite spring classic items that will stand the test of time and can be dressed to suit your personal style and body shape.

Do it in denim
Denim is huge this season and it doesn't just come in the form of jeans.  Denim skirts, shirts, jackets and spring coats are the order of the day.  My personal favourite is a denim jacket or spring coat in simple dark denim.  The dark denim will make it possible to wear for any occasion as it can be dressed up or down.  It will even give your 'casual Friday' look a chic finish.  Wear layers for warmth on the colder days or throw it on over a summery dress for that nippy morning or evening out.  Faded, detailed or light denim leans itself to a more casual look, so reserve those for the weekend.

Peek-a-boo
Lingerie and sheer fabrics are no longer for just the bedroom and under your clothes.  That doesn't mean it gives you license to walk into the boardroom wearing a satin corset, but it does mean that a peek of lace is the ultimate in feminine dressing.  Wear a sheer fabric blouse over a cami when it's warm or a long sleeve top when it's not.  Look out for a stretch lace top that can be worn under your blouses, over a cami or under a jacket for the ultimate peek-a-boo affect.

Something wild
The tribal look is bigger than ever before; exotic embellishments, traditional prints and rich, spicy tones.  You can either go bold with this look by selecting a bold printed blouse or skirt, or you can go small by selecting an outstanding accessory that will say it all.  Be careful of spending too much on an item you are likely to get bored of quickly, so keep your own personal style in mind when selecting your tribal piece.

Bright and light
Colour is a wonderful way of creating the 'spring feeling'.  The spring colour palette ranges from bright bold colours of purple, red, yellow, green and electric blue to soft pastel shades and nudes of all varieties.  Select the colours that suit you best as there are enough to choose from.  If you purchase a blouse or a top in your chosen spring colour, layer for warmth on the cold days or wear it on its own when the temperature starts to rise.

Dress it up
Dresses are fabulous interseasonal items.  Select a dress that you can wear layers with; wear a long sleeve top underneath it, tights and boots and a coat for extra warmth and shed the layers one-by-one as the weather starts to change.  Select a dress that you can dress up and down for various occasions and in a style that won't date next season so that you will enjoy it for years to come – an item that is well worth investing in.

I hope this inspires you to look at your wardrobe differently.  Get creative and learn to layer – that way you can take all the strange and wonderful weather in your stride and with style.
