Hate squeezing yourself into a skinny? It can be uncomfortable, and sometimes downright dangerous - hello, difficult breathing!
According to New Republic the skinny jean pant is dying. So, welcome back the comfortable '80s/early '90s fav, the trouser that has been eloquently dubbed: "mom jeans".
Ever since Karl Lagerfeld placed all emphasis on "the waist" in his Spring/Summer 2014 Haute Couture show, and Miley Cyrus made us all (yes, she basically forced us) to buy more Mr Price crop tops than we would ever, ever need; it was pretty much decided that the era of the high-waisted/tummy-emphasising jeans and trousers would be ushered in.
So, what are mom jeans exactly? Basically they were called this back in the '80s/early '90s, because the style was made popular by the infamous American soccer moms. Light blue jeans with a waistband close to the belly button, and it was all 100% cotton, according to New Republic.
In the late '90s, these jeans started to disappear from stores as Miss Britney's Baby Hit Me One More Time popularised the low-rise flares.
Have no idea how to style these babies? Roll them up at the ankle or pair with a cropped jersey or sweater. And you can shop the best selection of colours at Topshop for sure! From black to charcoal and light-blue wash denims - they have it all!

"It’s funny how are wardrobes can do a 180 degree turn in the space of a year. A year ago you wouldn’t catch me in a pair of denims unless a.) they were tiny denim daisy dukes or b.) a pair of black skinny’s when casting for shoots or runway shows. Now I own about ten pairs of various denim jeans and I still have my eye on a few more.
