Outrageous Car Accessories

A survey conducted in the Philippines makes us all appear rather vain and self-absorbed asking for a quick-drying fan for manicures on the steering wheel; a dispenser for hand sanitizer and lotion; extra headroom for hats; a built-in vanity table; a retractable and lighted vanity mirror; and a built-in hair iron in the back seat.

Other must-haves included parking assist and surround-view cameras; a heads-up display which shows the kids in the backseat; a self-cleaning anti-bacterial steering wheel cover, and a more developed voice command option which allows the driver to call, find music and access the GPS, as well as control the mobile devices that the kids are using.

“These requests are rather frivolous and patronizing” says 1st for Women Insurance’s managing director, Robyn Farrell and cites a more realistic study that found safety to be of primary importance to women when buying a car.

Performance and economy were next on the list as well as our car’s impact on the environment.

Nowadays, it is women who are making the majority of car purchases and who influence most of the car-purchasing decisions.

And South Africa is no different with women influencing 80% of all car sales.

Although most of us will admit to being a bit ridiculous at times, when it comes down to it we also know what is most important.  Ask a man this question on the other hand, and you’re likely to be bombarded with horsepower figures and engine size!

The Women24 team came up with their very own wish list, which consists of:

-          Better seat suspension so your mascara doesn’t go in your eye

-          A magazine holder

-          A hole in the headrest for your ponytail

-          A voice-activated screen that shows you pictures of hot men/LOL cats when you’re stuck in traffic

-          A compartment to put your high heeled shoes while you’re driving

-          A voice recording that gives you compliments when you feel down

What’s on your car wish list? Tell us in the box below.
