When I was a child I never imagine that the most stressful thing in my adult life would be keeping my phone charged. Funny thing is that I have to learn to charge my phone in the car on my way home from work. – Muofhe
I am so not equipped for load shedding – all I have is a single small handmade candle (that smells really nice but gives off minimum light) that I bought from a guy at work whose wife makes the things.
I do have a tale. I was in the Dr’s office waiting to see him while they had load shedding. I’m not sure if this caused the wait to be even longer – anyway, I whipped out my laptop, plugged my earphones in and looked like I had “arrived” sitting there watching a movie while I waited! – Cindy
I enjoy making my own doughnuts and so I made the dough, waited for it to rise, cut them out into shape as usual and wait for them to double in size for 30 minutes.
And then the worst thing happened. Just after turning on the deep fryer for less than two minutes, load shedding hit! My heart sank. Power came back after more than 8 hours!
I decided to fry them anyway. I served them to my family. When we ate them they had very sour taste, thanks to the 8 hours it had to rise.

One night, I checked the load shedding schedule and it was on Stage 1, which meant, that that night we would NOT have load shedding.
It seemed like a great idea to cook supper, but halfway through grilling my chicken, the power went off! Turns out, it changed to Stage 2!

We were busy that evening at home, and were not sure if there would be load shedding or not. Sure enough, the power went off just after 7pm. We sat in the dark for almost an hour, patiently waiting for the power to be put on again, before my husband noticed that the lights are on in our neighbour's house!
We then went outside and realised we were the only home where it was dark. Then it hit me: I forgot to buy prepaid electricity! – Lia
