You should never be ashamed of your scars or the story behind them.
That’s the inspiring message burn victim Catrin Pugh (23) from Chester, England, shared on Instagram to try and change people’s perception of people with scars.
The bus-accident survivor courageously posed for photographer Sophie Mayanne’s incredible Behind The Scars project, which challenges people to embrace and celebrate their scars, whether they’re big or small, reports Mirror News.
“I heard about Sophie’s project through the charities I work alongside. The main ones are The Katie Piper Foundation and Changing Faces, and I contacted her,” says Catrin.
“The photoshoot was last month and it was up to me how much or how little I showed, and I wanted to show it all.
“It felt good and I wanted to show that my scars aren’t a
big deal. I see them every day and I don’t feel uncomfortable about them.
“There are people out there who may feel ashamed or embarrassed by their scars and by me showing all mine. I wanted to make them feel more confident about theirs.”
The brunette beauty, who was 19 at the time of the horrific accident, was left with burns that covered 96% of her body after the tourist bus she was travelling on in the French Alps caught alight, reports the Daily Post.
Medics gave Catrin a one-in-1 000 chance of survival after
she was rescued from the wreckage.
But against all odds, the young woman has rebuilt her life after three months in an induced coma and 200 operations over the past few years.
According to The Sun, she’s now studying a course in bio-sciences and hopes to attend university later this year to study physiotherapy.

tell their incredible stories.
