Thinking back to when I first got introduced to cellphones, Sony was one of the trusted few brands by those who had already had access to phones.
The look
The overall look of the phone is pretty standard. For a girl like me who likes having her phone on her hand the whole time, the Sony Xperia L1 fits in my hand perfectly. I can’t say the same about the Xperia XA1 Ultra as it’s bigger in size but it’s not bad. For days when I felt like not carrying a bag, the device would fit perfectly in pockets.
Screen resolution
I prefer having a very bright screen on my devices because I believe it makes everything look better and the phone did just that. For users who aren’t into high screen resolution like I am, the phone is designed in a way that you’re able to adjust the lighting to your own preference.
Battery life
Being in the media, it’s very important for me to have a phone with a long-lasting battery and over the years I’ve alternated between different brands in search of this. Much like other brands, with multiple apps running at the same, camera usage, and social media the battery could get me through most of the day without charging. I also found that getting the phone to get on full battery took longer than expected.
Messages
Texting on this device is a breeze due to the smoothness and different options you have to customise your text to what you want it to be. I was able to add different attachments like pictures, location, voice recording and a contact.
Camera
Like most users before purchasing a phone the first thing I always check for is the quality of the camera. The Sony Xperia’s L1 camera has a 13 megapixels for the primary camera and five for the secondary camera. The Xperia XA1 Ultra boasts a 23-megapixel camera at the back along with a single LED flash and a 16-megapixel camera on the front with a selfie flash. Even though the camera has an LED flash I found that pictures at night weren’t of great quality. However in perfect lighting i was able to capture great images with the phone.
Music
With 16 gigabytes worth of phone space, you’re sure to have a great music collection with the Sony Xperia’s L1. To top it all off the phone also has a built in FM radio, perfect for those who are always on the go and need to stay in the loop with the news.
User friendly/ navigating
Navigating through the phone at first was a bit challenging as you would with any new device. But after customising the home screen to my requirements using the device was easy.
Feature worth highlighting
A feature worth highlighting is the onboard space of the phone with an option to use a storage card for additional memory.
Conclusion
Overall, the device is a great buy. But with a few changes on the number of factors highlighted it could get better.
