Friends are actively involved

Back then our parents never involved their friends in their domestic disputes. A line that would separate caring from being too involved was drawn and never crossed.

Marriage is put on a hold

If your parents are married, take a moment to ask them at what age did they tied the knot. Chances are they were married and probably already one or two children at your age. According to the Director of the Centre For Love and Sex in New York City, Sari Cooper, lesser young people are getting married, however,  their way of showing commitment involves moving in together or having a child, which is still taboo to the bulk of the older generation.

More open minded when it comes to sex

Gone are the days when women had to wait for their spouses to return home for them to get sexually satisfied. Young couples, particularly women, are more in touch with their sexuality. According to research, South African women are dominating the adult toy industry. Not only do they own the toys, they also use them. This shows just how much relationship dynamics have changed with the years.

Smart phones are the third wheels

Cellphones are both good and somewhat bad for millennial relationships. Good in a sense that communication isn’t only restricted to love letters. Now you can call, text, take pictures and email all in one device. On the other hand, mobile phones take much of people’s attention, resulting in missing out on what’s going on in each other’s lives.

Relationships are defined differently

Young people have put a different meaning to relationships. Others prefer one night stands, friends with benefits and open relationships. Even in the modern world, many of those in the older generation still prefer the old way to maintaining relationships.
