A relationship could mean different things
With the popularity of one night stands and friends with benefits, defining what you have going on with a man can be difficult for some. Relationship statuses aren’t what they used to be. These days you’re able to be with different partners for different needs such as sex, love, stability or just companionship.
Courting doesn’t exist
The idea of having to follow around a woman for weeks on end until you get her attention almost doesn’t exist anymore. Now, asking for a woman’s contact number is all that it takes to get the ball rolling.
Meeting people happens in the digital space
Unlike before where people had to physically be out and about to meet a potential partner, these days you do it at a click of a button, in the comfort of your own home.
Break ups are more casual
Gone are the days were you would take time to think things through before calling it quits. Couples were more tolerant towards one another and their behavior back then. Now, reasons for breaking up range from minor; being flirting to extreme being; cheating with your bestfriend. The time people take to get over break-ups has decreased as well.
Marriage isn’t the ultimate goal
Most old and mature couples got married in their late teen years, it was the ultimate goal. Fast forward to the modern world, couples are okay with just being together and enjoying ‘marriage benefits’ like staying together for how ever long they wish without tying themselves down.
Sexual liberation
With the media displaying endless information regarding sex, couples are no longer shy to try new things in the bedroom and actually find satisfaction in it.
More partners leading to more experience
More young people are now starting to date at an early age resulting in both good and bad relationships. The upside to having experienced relationship failure is that as you grow older you get to fine tune what you require for the perfect union.
