A plane flying from Doha to Bali was forced to make an emergency landing after a hysterical woman caused a commotion on the aircraft.

The Iranian woman was travelling on Qatar Airways with her husband and young child. When her husband fell asleep on the flight, the curious woman used his finger to get past his smartphone’s fingerprint lock, reports The Times of India.

But she got more than she bargained for when she came across proof that her husband was cheating on her with another woman.

News.com.au reports the angry woman fought with her husband on the aircraft.

The woman had apparently already had a drink or two and the situation got so out of hand that the pilot decided to land the plane in Chennai, India.

According to reports, the entire family was then escorted off the aircraft, which then took off again and continued the journey to Bali.

An official of the Central Industrial Security Force confirmed the incident, but Qatar Airways would not elaborate on the matter.

"In respect of passenger privacy we do not comment on individual cases," they said in a statement.
