From Super Hot to Super Not

accreditation

We all have had the experience when out to lunch with the girls, when we have had to dive under the table without explanation upsetting countless glasses of chardonnay. Or spending an entire party speaking to someone who bores you to death but God knows if you turn around you face a fate much worse.

The dread of seeing someone you once wanted to kiss from top to toe but who now inspires retching and the sweats is a common one. We have all had that moment of clarity when the attraction seems to instantaneously dissolve and we are left with the cold heartless task of faking it. And seldom does it get better when you think out of the kindness of your heart you will give it another go because hey you are single, he is single and quite frankly you could do with a shag.

Trust me on this one; I have recently spent an evening with a guy I actually had a wildly exciting few evenings with. Emotionally friendship is how it ended but between the sheets the attraction was still there, or so I thought.

After three bottles of red I thought suggesting a good night kiss would be a great idea, it was not. Do not even ask me how it became a sleepover, pouring rain, too much alcohol and the Arrive Alive campaign had him staying over. A double bed, a single duvet and winter temperatures resulted in the need to cuddle, but rigor mortis set in, for him the attraction, for me the revolt ion. I was awake the whole night and not for the right reasons.

When once energetic love making would have kept us up all night long leaving me exhausted but satisfied in the morning I now found myself rolling away and braving the cold for short spurts just to get away from the body next to me. This was followed by a day of sub-normal intelligence at my new job.

You see I think the desire trip switch is operated by forces bigger than ourselves including: horniness, loneliness, alcohol, boredom. It is as easy to switch off as it is to switch on.

Needless to say from now on if I dine in the general vicinity of his house I only dine at restaurants with menus large enough to cover my face.
