After being single and hunting for ‘the one’ for over a year, it might be time to rethink your boyfriend checklist. The frequent dates, the chancers and raising your hopes on every date must be emotionally draining. Girlfriend - it’s time for plan B.
Forget the checklist, and truly get to know your date. Study him and consider the following points instead.
1. Punctuality
If he is running late, he really ought to send a message to say he is a bit
delayed. He also needs to apologise on arrival too. Only a man who is
respectful and courteous will trouble himself to apologise for keeping a lady
waiting. You need a man like that.
2. What dominates his
conversations?
If the majority of his sentences start with “my ex and I used to…” or “my mama
said…” you need to let him go. Chances are the gentleman is not over his ex and
still needs time to deal with it before diving into a new relationship. He is
probably a man who needs his mom’s approval for everything, from what colour
pants to wear in the morning to who he should and can date. Rather get to know
someone who is mature and wants to know more about you.
3. Cell phones
Nothing screams “I am not interested in you” like someone who is going to be on
his phone when he should be engaging and getting to know you. Phones can be
distracting on a date. Rather put them on vibrate and place them on the table in
case you receive an important call.
4. Eye contact
When someone looks you in the eyes, nods their head and laughs when you are
talking it shows you have grabbed their attention. If this is the case, things
can only go up hill. Maybe share your interests and passions (outside of
relationships) to keep the conversation going.
5. Have fun
You got your nails done, put on your best outfit and drove yourself to the
date; the worst thing you can do after all that is not have fun. Whether it
works out with the guy or not enjoy yourself. This process is very much about
you.
