7 ways to survive sale season

Partnered with Partnered with

With winter on the way, many stores have their end-of-season sales. It’s the perfect time to stock up on endless classics and the last of the must-haves. Before you run yourself broke or compulsively buying stuff you don’t need, take note of these tips on surviving the season.

Look up the dates

Take note of the days the sale will be taking place. Popular items tend to be the first to go, so if they’re on your to-buy list, be there on the first day.

Know what you want (and stick to it)

Make a list of all the items you want and steer clear of impulsive buys. Only get something else if what you’re looking for is sold out or impossible to find at any store.

Avoid fast trends

Avoid buying trendy items just because of the discounted price. Rather buy classic items like jeans and shirts and everyday essentials like underwear and socks.

Be realistic about your budget

Don’t fall into the trap of buying more than you can afford. Stick to your budget and only buy what you have to.

Use social media and apps to find discount codes

Most retailers use their apps to announce deals and discount codes. Stay online for updates and follow them on social media too for the latest news.

Don’t be that girl/guy
You know, the ones that end up in a (very public) tug of war over the last available clutch bag. Keep your cool. There’s always next year.

Dress the part
Sale shopping is not for the faint of heart (or the unfit). Wear comfy shoes. Wear appropriate undergarments for repeat try-on sessions. Wear deodorant.

Now that you’re well-equipped to go forth and shop ‘til you drop, take up Woolies’ exclusive online offer: get up to 50% off on selected fashion, beauty and homeware in their Quality Sale. Limited time only!
