The results of Women24’s annual Female Nation Survey are out. Over 7000 local women took part in the survey, and weighting was based on the 2013 General Household Survey.
This demographic represents urban women who earn more than R6 000 per month and are over the age of 18.
Of these women more than 1 in 2 admitted they had no faith at all in government, while a further 35% said they had very little faith.
This means almost 90% of women surveyed have little or no faith in our government. Pretty worrying, isn’t it?
Especially since 80% of women in this demographic said they voted in this year’s elections.
The main concerns women have with government failing them is crime (80%), corruption (10%) and unemployment (4%).
Only 1 in 5 women said they had trust in the police.
