Cheryl Cole files for divorce!

The 26-year-old, who rose to fame through the "Girls Aloud" band and as a judge on "The X Factor" talent show, is expected to apply for a "quickie" divorce, the Sun tabloid reported.

A spokeswoman for her PR company confirmed that divorce papers had been filed at the High Court, but declined to go into the reasons behind the split.

Media reports said she had cited the "unreasonable behaviour" of her husband, after a string of tabloid allegations of his infidelity.

Since their marriage in 2006, the couple have lived in the full glare of the media spotlight, with paparazzi following their every move.

Cheryl has told Ashley she doesn’t want any of his money and he can keep their home. A source revealed: "She wants a completely clean break with no malice or wrangling over property or money. Cheryl will not take one penny of Ashley's money. Crucially, people expected her to request their mansion as part of the divorce terms. But the house means nothing to her."

"Cheryl has no spite towards Ashley and has been incredibly mature and considered in how she has handled the split," the source added.

Reports say Cheryl was looking to divorce in July, but has brought it forward and hopes the marriage will be over before the World Cup.

Meanwhile Ashley is getting ready to come to South Africa as part of the provisional squad to compete in the World Cup.

If you were in Cheryl's shoes, would you will change your surname back to Tweedy after the divorce is cleared?
