He's ba-a-ack! Eminem just released a new track and pokes fun at Lady Gaga, by calling her a hermaphrodite. How insensitive!
Since when has being a hermaphrodite been a diss?
In his latest track, Eminem refers to the 2009 rumours that Gaga is a transgender person. "Tell Lady Gaga she can quit her job at the post office/She's still a mail (male) lady," he raps.
Aside from the fact that's it's such a lame pun – and it took him a whole year to come up with it – I'm surprisingly aggravated by the line.
Listen. I'm happy to chuckle at the latest politician's sex scandal, or celebrity's nude pics, because that's a conscious decision on the participants' part to engage in that kind of behaviour. But being born with a mixed gender is not a choice. It's not something that a person can control – and to use it to poke fun at anyone is horrifically tactless.
Then again, it is Eminem. And he is a world-renowned jerk. Just ask Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey… and the other half of Tinseltown that have been a target of his jokes.
