What sparked the Chris/Rihanna fight?

"He and Leona were laughing and Rihanna saw his hand on the small of her back. It was totally innocent, but that set Rihanna off," the newspaper's source says.

This could have sparked an argument off between the pair, although police have not confirmed the Rihanna is the victim of the assault.

NYDailyNews said the argument began with a text message, possibly from an ex-girlfriend. "He got a booty call... Rihanna saw it and she got upset. They started to argue. She got out of the car. He wanted her to get back in, so he grabbed her," their source said.

What happened that night?
Police sources quoted on TMZ said the victim lost consciousness during the alleged attack Sunday morning. Allegedly, Brown choked his victim and screamed, "I'm going to kill you!"

A source spoke to People Magazine, and said, "Chris knocked her around... Black eye, blood bruises. She had to be treated by a doctor." Apparently, she also had a swollen split lip and two red and purple contusions on either side of her forehead.

Police presented a case against Brown to prosecutors but were asked to conduct further investigation, says spokeswoman for the L.A. District Attorney's Office, reports Reuters.

Celebrity attorney, Mark Geragos who has represented Michael Jackson and Winona Ryder, has been hired to represent Brown in court n March 5.

Actions come with consequences
Since the incident, Brown has been dropped his promotion deal with Wrigley and his songs have been pulled off several American radio stations.

"In light of the events with the Chris Brown/Rihanna abuse situation, Java Joel was taking several comments on his evening show Monday, February 9th," said American radio station Kiss FM’s Program Director, Bo Matthews. "I then made the decision to rid the whole station of Chris Brown songs while this plays out... It appears that Chris has made some poor choices, we are following the lead of our listeners, and we will not be supporting Chris Brown on 96.5 Kiss FM in Cleveland until the alleged situation gets resolved."

Brown has also had to pay $ 50000 (R 500 000) bail after his arrest. The National Basketball League said Brown had withdrawn from a celebrity game scheduled for this weekend as part of the NBA all-star game.

Rihanna has postponed two concerts, in Malaysia and Indonesia, and cancelled her 21st birthday celebration in New York.
