Modern Family's new season delayed

The production of the hilarious show has been delayed due to salary disputes between several actors and 20th Century Fox Television.

The cast was due to sit down for its first table reading recently, but the rehearsal was suddenly cancelled after actors Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara rejected the producer’s latest offer of $150,000 (R1.2 million) per episode plus bonuses.

Not too long after, the five actors filed a lawsuit in L.A Superior Court to have their contracts voided.

The lawsuit requests that all of their contracts be made illegal since they extend more than 7 years, which conflicts California law.

Ty, Julie, Jesse, Eric and Sofia were reportedly making more than $60,000 (R500 000) per episode during season three of Modern Family.  They are now pushing for an increase which would give them much more than the R1.2 million per show for season four, and even higher salaries for future seasons. They’re so damn funny, I hope they get the increase they deserve.

Do you think the cast of Modern Family should be paid more?
