We catch up Miranda Mokhele Ntshangase on her new role on Isidingo and her hot new single Lendoda.
Miranda is best known for her roles on SABC's Tshisa and Sokhulu & Partners. She is now back on our screens on one of SA's most loves soapies Isidingo. The talented starlet is also making a buzz in the music scene with the release of her single "Lendoda."
Her love for the arts
I knew from when I was five what I wanted to do. When my father asked me I said I wanted to be a painter, but I didn’t know what that involved. My father took me to an art school and there I studied music, drama, painting and graphic design. Then, I went to AFDA to further my acting and music – I’ve always been drawn to it.
What she loves most about acting
What I love about acting is the not being yourself exploring another person, bringing another person to life. I love that you can observe different people and you can create a totally new world and new person that’s really fun for me. Sometimes, it falls flat on its face and sometimes it becomes amazing.
Her role on Isidingo
I play the new resident doctor for the Deep, I think it’s a vital role to take to show young kids of colour that you can be empowered as a young person be a successful doctor. So I’m really excited about this.
On the industry
I’ve figured this industry as I’ve gone, when I got into it I was deer eyed now I’m aware that it isn’t all glamorous. It’s been like 10 years now, I’m still growing and I also have my own company Star Quality Management, which is an agency and acting school I started when things slowed down.
I love what I do, it’s hard to sustain, so normalcy and reality is very important. This is why I’ll never sell my soul to get a role.
Launching her music career
It’s been a longtime coming; I’m doing it independently so it’s going slower than going through a label. But, the misconception is I’m an actress and I’m taking advantage of my screen time and doing music. No, I have always been a singer, in varsity music was my major actually, and I knew I have a message and story to tell.
I’ve been working on the correct sound get to know myself in music, I don’t want to be a fly by night artist so I’m working on it and hoping it will be received well. I have found my groove in afro soul jazz and working on my EP to introduce myself as an artist then I hope to release my album after that.
Balancing family and the busy schedule
I’m trying my best. Sometimes I forget things, as a mother of two and wife. I have an amazing husband and nanny who help keep things together on the home front. With my company I have my partner so I think all round I have been blessed with great people and support around me.
