My 9-year-old daughter is a staunch supporter of the Blue Bulls because “mommy is.”
However, when we watch the late afternoon games on SABC 2, there she is looking glum because she wants to watch TV and I want to watch the Springboks.
“Why do you watch the rugby if you sit there shouting the entire time mommy?” she asks. “And why must we ALWAYS watch rugby?”
When the important games show on Mnet, we usually go out somewhere to watch it on a big screen TV because we don’t have Mnet.
That's when she gets excited about watching the rugby because we are now going to go and sit at the Dros and she can have a few milkshakes.
During games I do not want to watch, I read a book in peace and quiet.
So bring on the rugby and let’s live a torn-life between the “yes, rugby!” and “no, rugby!” for a bit.

Happy is the understatement of the year – I am a bum girl and let's face it rugby, obviously, gives me a lot of pleasure.
So, rather give me rugby, biltong, beer and naartjies and you can leave out the golf, 5 day cricket and marathons.
