'Your womb is full of dead babies'

I know I should probably write about Valentine’s Day, but I’m not going to. You either love it, or you hate it, or you love to hate it, or you don’t care. I don't care.

Actually, I think the last time I cared was when I was 15 and knew I didn't have a hope in hell of receiving a card.  And even then it wasn't because I was single and looking for love - it was merely the thought of the public humiliation I'd be suffering as a Valentine wallflower. In my school, Valentine's Day was by far the most important popularity contest of the year. So much so, that the year before, when I was new in school I made a secret pact with a friend where we sent each other cards just so we wouldn't look like horrible, lonely, ugly losers.

Oh how I love to share these embarrassing stories with you guys!

From then on (and many, many cards later I might add) I've stopped caring. What I found much more interesting, and what I thought I should share with you guys, is the latest bizarre development in the odd, yet ongoing war against birth control in the "Free World".

The other day an American radio host spoke of "news" from a couple of doctors who claim that women on the pill have hundreds of tiny dead babies stuck in their wombs.

Yep, you read that right. "Literally hundreds of tiny dead babies" just littering my womb.

I'm not sure whether the host, or the doctors (who must've gotten their medical certificates in the mail) were lying, but the entire idea is so laugh-out-loud insaneballs that I nearly fell off my chair. I’m not sure whether these anti-birth control freaks are extremely ignorant or whether they just assume the public is extremely ignorant, but something is desperately wrong here.

I mean, the nonsense people will sprout to promote their right-wing ideas against birth control is being taken to a whole new weird and macabre level.

First off, the pill works because it stops you from ovulating. Secondly, a fourth grader knows that menstruation is the process of getting rid of that layer of the uterus. Third, hundreds of tiny dead babies? Holy batshit, Robin, but that's just nonsensical!

Why people would promote ideas against birth control is beyond me. If men don't want to wear condoms, and fundamentalists are bombing abortion clinics and single and working mothers are treated with utter disrespect, then what the heck are we supposed to do?

Oh wait, I know. Get married on Valentine's Day and stay at home with our twelve children.

What is your stance on birth control?
