Lexi (27) and Danny Reed (32) from Indiana weighed 220kg and 127kg respectively in January 2016.
Being the heaviest either of them had ever been, the couple set out on a quest to lose the weight.
They engaged in healthy eating and plenty of exercise which they documented on their now-viral Instagram account, @fatgirlfedup.
Fast forward two years later and the couple collectively lost 181kg, reported AOL.
The pair spurned personal trainers and surgery and chose to work on their weight together.
“I went from a size 28 to a size 10,” said Lexi.
“I went from a 46 all the way down to a 32,” Danny added.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle was important for the couple who plan on becoming parents.
"We wanted to be parents in the future and live a longer life together. We had no idea that in just over a year and six months we’d be a completely different couple. We may have lost the weight but we’ve grown closer together,” said Lexi.
She told ABC News that changing her “relationship with food” was the biggest challenge. "My husband and I would go out to eat for almost every meal and if we did cook at home it was frozen pizza or anything else unhealthy.
“We found that by meal-prepping instead of relying on fast food, we were able to stick with our goals when we were at work. And by learning to cook our own meals we were in charge of what we were eating. We were willing to learn every single day of our journey and we also started using the gym, instead of food, as therapy. By changing our minds, habits and emotional triggers, we changed our lives."
