Curvy model completely unretouched in lingerie ad goes viral

accreditation
Aerie swimwear and lingerie is making headlines for featuring 18-year-old, size 12 model Barbie Ferreira. Barbie is seen frolicking in her pink bikini poolside, looking ever so #AerieReal.

Aerie is known for not retouching any of their pictures, believing there is no one ideal body. The underwear line, which targets women from the age of 15 to 21, is becoming more and more appealing to young women as more people are realising that the Victoria’s Secret body shape isn't the only “perfect body”.

President of Aerie, Jen Foyle, told Refinery29 that Barbie embraces the spirit of Aerie Real: embracing your real self and having nothing to hide and being a strong and beautiful woman.

Even though the teen model has received some hate online, she says that she is completely unapologetic about her body.

She says that not being Photoshopped was very important to her as she didn’t want others to judge what her body should or shouldn’t look like. Barbie, who is 5’8” (172.72cm) and has a waist of 30” (76.2cm) and 44” (111.76cm) hips has become an inspiration for many women all around the world.

Since implementing their no Photoshop rule in 2014, the American Eagle underwear line has featured a diverse range of models including American actress Emma Roberts who was one of the celebrities who went untouched and appeared in their fall collection.
