The French senate approved a law banning any veils that cover the face -- including the burqa, worn by some Muslim women. The law was passed by a vote of 246 to 1, with about 100 abstentions coming essentially from left-leaning politicians.
In France, less than 2000 women will be affected, but the fact that wearing a veil is of religious importance in some cultures, makes us question the ruling.
