Stop hating on their weight

Look at the picture below...no really, look.

Every single one of these women weigh 68kgs. I'll wait while you let that sink in for a minute.

Do you notice the difference in dress sizes?

Do you notice the difference in height and build in general?

The all look very different yet they all weigh the same.

Now, health issues/lack of muscle tone aside who gives you the right to judge any one of these women? Or the woman walking past on the street. Or the woman reading or writing this article?

Who said that you had a right to an opinion about how these women look, eat, love and live their lives? Do you know them?

Do you know what their struggles are? Do you know what gives them joy? Have you taken the time to find out about their lives and about the choices they made in the past?

Well then why do you think you can pass judgement on the size of their waists or whether their thighs wobble.

Now I know it's not your fault. It's how you were raised. It's what your mother or father taught you about what a women should look like, sound like, eat like, live like. The media doesn't help either when they decide to compare two celebrities in their pregnancies.

One who is the Eurocentric ideal of slender and beautiful and the one who has some "junk in her trunk".

The media has chosen to not compare the way the live their lives and the choices that they make in this article or whether they have made any real difference in the world but how they look while they are growing another human being.

Does that seem right to you? How does that sit on your conscience?

We all believe that we are right and of course we know best but why does the rest of the world have to be critized because we still like eating a balanced meal and aren't obsessed with running.

If I have decided that the way I live now is "living my best life" and I am happy, am I not only person who can make that decision for me?

I don't know if any of these women have health issues whether it is diabetes, high cholestrol or high blood pressure.

I don't know if these women drink or smoke or have a terminal illness. But unless I am willing to sit down with someone to find out how they are and who they are then I should keep my judgement to myself.

For the record, I know that men battle with body image and self esteem too yet there are still far fewer women on the beach in bikinis than they are boys with boeps in speedos. These are just my thoughts on the issue of how the world makes it harder for girls and women to have a healthy self image.

This attitude contributes to eating disorders and we should instead be taking a proactive role to fight it.
