Make your own Bath Fizzies

Making your own fizz bombs might be tricky at first, but you should get the hang of it on your second or third try.

Here is what you’ll need:
•    1/2 cup citric acid
•    1/4 cup Epsom salts
•    1 cup baking soda
•    3/4 cup cornstarch
•    food colouring
•    ice cube trays or candy molds, soft silicone trays make it easier to  remove the mould.
•    essential oil for fragrance (I used lavender, you can also get these at Whole Foods)
•    a small spray bottle

The first thing you should do is put down some sort of cover over your work area. I didn’t realize how big of a mess this would make before I started, and you can see what happened!

Tip: Cover the area you that you will be working on with old newspapers or a big plastic cover to avoid making a mess.

Step 1: Mix your baking soda, citric and cornstarch together in a bowl. And like in baking, use a strainer to remove any lumps and clumps in the mix. Then add you Epson salts and stir.

Tip: Try keeping your hands, utensils and work area as dry as possible, any contact with water will fizz your mix.

Step 2: Add 15 drops of your scented oil to the mixture and mix well.

Tip: You can add as much or little oil as you desire. But keep in mind that the scent won’t be as strong as when mixing in a bath tub filled with water.

Step3:
This is the final step where you will be adding the food colouring with a tiny bit of water. You will put your food colouring and water into your spray bottle and lightly spritz the mixture while stirring until you get your desired colour.

Tip:
Make sure to not spray too much of your water colour to the mixer, this will sadly result in a huge bowl of fizz.

Very Important: Make sure you mix 6 drops of food colouring per tablespoon of water in your spray bottle. The mix will fizz a little but continue to spray and stir until the mixture is wet enough to pack into the moulds, but not so wet that it gets crumbly or fizzy.

Step 4:
Once your mixture is ready, use a spoon to fill it in the ice trays. Fill it up to the top and use a piece of plastic wrap to avoid it sticking to your hands.

Tip: Press it down but not too much as it needs some air to dry properly.

You can now let your bath fizz dry for about 24 to 48 hours.

Your bath bombs should be easy to pop out just after 24 hours or so. But if they are a bit wet underneath, just turn them over and allow them to dry.

Now you can start running your bath and enjoy your very own bath bombs.
