FHM's official rape comment apology statement

Social media has been abuzz after two FHM employees recently made jokes about correctional rape and date rape on their personal Facebook accounts.

After posting this article about the insensitive comments made by FHM's features editor Max Barashenkov, Women24 spoke to Brendan Cooper, the editor at large of FHM, to find out what their side of the story is.

According to Brendan, the disciplinary hearing is already underway, and probably won't end well for those involved. He also said that the comments were in no way representative of FHM (keep in mind that he posted it on his personal Facebook account.)

Here's FHM's full apology statement:

"FHM was horrified to learn of the incredibly offensive comments made by two of our staff members on their private Facebook pages. These comments in no way reflect FHM's values. The opinions expressed are hurtful and deeply offensive and entirely unacceptable to FHM's management.

We are taking immediate disciplinary action against the staff members involved."

This isn't the first time that FHM has been in hot water due to social media rants of employees or people closely related to them. In 2012 FHM Modelbook 2011 Winner Jessica Leandra dos Santos caused outrage by posting derogatory and blatantly racist tweets.

Perhaps those in charge at FHM should be a bit more clear about what "their people" should and shouldn't be posting.

UPDATE: According to City Press, two people involved with this incident have been suspended with immediate effect.
