Ever wondered how big, big girl panties really are? Asking around, the general consensus seems to point to them being huge, canary yellow polyester(ish), unattractive, over the muffin top, type of efforts. This can’t be true.
You see, I believe that big girl panties are the tiniest, sexiest, naughtiest, cutest little knickers in town. We step into them only when feeling supremely brave. And to be more amazing than amazing (and who doesn’t want this from time to time), step into them we must.
Call it procrastination but over at Get Organised we’ve developed a theory of our own. Stepping out in big girl panties requires guts; it’s about shifting outside of your comfort zone, allowing for vulnerability. It definitely requires more than a dab of courage, which is why there is absolutely no room for them to be ugly. I’m sure you’ll agree.
So how do we step out (and into) these itsy bitsy little babies? Well, here’s an idea to get you going.
1. You will need: a bunch of girlfriends, cupcakes and a bottle of bubbles (work colleague(s), muffins and coffee will do nicely too).
2. Collectively start making a list of anything you desire. Think: Travel, work, exercise, study, family, cars, shoes, romance, charity, wellness, fitness, etc. Ask: “What hasn’t yet happened in my life that I’d love to happen?” Don’t worry about how realistic or ridiculous your desire(s) might be, if it pops into your head, jot it down.
3. Once your list reaches 100 desires and you’ve pushed yourself beyond the boundary of what is comfortable, each of you should select just one, big, fat and juicy desire that you really, really, really want to make happen. Think: “Which one of these things listed gets my tummy butterflies flying out of formation?”
4. Almost there … now write down the first 3 actions you need to take towards making this big fat something your reality.
5. Finally, set a start and completion date for each of these 3 actions, commit to these dates with your friends/colleagues who now become your accountability buddies.
We acknowledge your Superwoman performance. Congratulations for stepping out in your big girl panties!
