Decline some events

Chances are your calender is filled with events for almost every weekend and events are the hub of temptation. So,It’s okay to decline some invites if you feel you might be cornered into having a drink or two. Ditch having to explain yourself and do something that you enjoy.

Avoid explaining yourself

The beauty about being a grown up is that you don’t need to explain your decisions to anyone. Now, bear in mind that this might catch your friends and family by surprise so brace yourself for that. Don’t feel the need to explain yourself when offered a drink, rather ask for something else like water or soft beverage. The more you explain yourself the more they’ll feel the need to pressure you into drinking alcohol.

Carry own drinks

often than not hosts usually cater more for alcoholic drinker as opposed to the non drinkers. So to avoid having an empty glass all the time rather carry your own drinks. There’s so much variety for non alcoholic drinks that you can play around with. Your supplies will help you not fall of the wagon should there be no non alcoholic drinks.

Be the designated driver

What better way to get friends and family off your back than to offer being the designated driver for the night? That way they can relax knowing someone sober is in charge of taking them home. Rather be safe than sorry.

Set a goal for yourself

Giving this habbit up won’t be easy, so to stay motivated set a goal for yourself. For instance, you could opt to buy yourself an item that you’ve been longing for like an expensive handbag if you reach a certain month without having touched alcohol. It’s much easier working towards a goal than working aimlessly.

Make it fun

Water and softdrinks can be boring especially if everyone around you is having fun with cocktails. Order a mocktail instead, they’re just as delicious. Plus, no-one will know there’s no alcohol in your drink unless you tell.
