Time saving tips

We could all use a little extra time in our days, here are a few tips on getting it:

1. Get more efficient.

Easier said than done? Not really. In actual fact it’s as simple as doing something that makes you happy in the morning.

Starting your morning with a bounce in your step helps you remain focused throughout the day, which obviously means more done in less time. Yay!

2. Do it now.

Instead of checking your emails when you get to work, replying to the important ones now and letting the others wait until later, do it all now. Going back to finish tasks is time wasting, try to avoid it.

3. Avoid distractions during your optimum work times.

We all have periods in the day where we’re focused and work intensely – maximise this time by cutting out the distractions such as phone calls, emails and walk-in co-workers.

4. Make better use of waiting times.

Whether it’s waiting in the car for the kids to come out of school, sitting in the dentist’s waiting room or traveling by train to work, use the time to do things that take up time elsewhere in your life. Making shopping lists and reading work papers are examples of simple time saving tricks while you’re waiting.

5. Identify your time thieves and time waters.

Find out where you’re losing valuable time. It could be in front of the TV, or at the computer or cellphone… Keep track of how long you spend on these activities and try to limit it.
