Traditional Barbie was blonde, skinny and tall. She was not very representative of the average woman or young girl.
Then toy companies switched things up and introduced 'Barbies with average proportions'; then came a rather controversial range, which included 'Barbies with acne and stretch mark stickers'.
And just when we thought dolls couldn’t get any more 'real', they did.
According to Today Parents, a 3D doll printing company called Makies has taken that realness one step further and has created dolls which come with hearing aids, walking canes and facial birth marks, to name but a few.
The best part is? Your child gets to design his or her own doll and have it custom made.
Love these, teaches kids to be compassionate about others. http://t.co/q2abm4toI6

Dolls with #disabilities. Great idea if #schools use this as a teaching tool for sensitivity and acceptance. http://t.co/NTnhT9Y9eT
