Forget Forbes’ list of richest women. Isn’t it time that you figured out how rich you are compared to billions of other people in the world?
Well, the guys at globalrichlist.com allow you to do just that. By typing in your annual income, they calculate where you fall on the world’s list of richest people.
Why do they do it?
They want people to understand, in real terms, where they stand globally, in order to raise awareness that there are actually millions of people around the world that are worse off. “We want people to feel rich. And give some of their extra money to a worthwhile charity.”
How do they do it?
The Global Rich List calculations are based on figures from the World Bank Development Research Group. To calculate the most accurate position for each individual they assume that the world's total population is 6 billion and the average worldwide annual income is $5,000.
The world's distribution of money can also be displayed as the chart below:
If your ranking makes you feel rich (or guilty?) enough, you can simply click on their link and donate to a charity. Genius, right?
