Various provinces, cities, towns and townships around the country, such as the Vaal, Soweto, Durban and Limpopo, have their own instalments of Pride throughout the year to unapologetically celebrate their freedom to embrace their authentic selves without being confined to the proverbial closet.
These celebrations, however, should never mask the prevalence of intimate partner violence within the queer community.
