When well-known international journalist and jazz musician, Nthakoana Ngatane, attended the Afrika Tage Festival in Austria in 2021 - where she is scheduled to perform again on August 28 - it did not cross her mind that she would meet her husband. 

Ngatane is married to Michael Stacher from Vienna in Austria. She recently relocated to her matrimonial home where she lives with her husband. Stacher is the founder and leader of the band called Trancitiv. Ngatane is now the lead female vocalist in the band. Her career in journalism has included working as a foreign correspondent for the SABC, as the Africa reporter for EWN and as a freelancer for AFP, the BBC and Deutsche Welle. Communicating with City Press from Austria, Ngatane said:

"But in the process, I realised that my musical home is here (Austria)- so I have since made Austria my base.”
