Three years after his passing, the memory and legacy of Ladysmith Black Mambazo's founding member, Joseph Shabalala, are still etched in people's memories.

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) has announced Shabalala’s posthumous documentary Music is My Life, directed by Mpumi Mbele, as the film to represent Mzansi in the International Feature Film category of the 96th Academy Awards (Oscars) scheduled to take place on 10 March next year.
