Mzansi’s favourite onscreen couple, Zodwa and Bongani, portrayed by thespians Sannah Mchunu and Thulani Mtsweni, are set to exchange wedding vows and live happily ever after on the Friday installment of Gomora. City Press was invited to the couple’s wedding in Alexandra township.
City Press can reveal that Gomora viewers are in for a treat as Zodwa looked dazzling in a royal blue contemporary dress with a dash of tradition as she walked down the aisle to marry the love of her life, after all the trials and tribulations they endured.
In attendance, were members of the Gomora community, including Mam Sonto, Gladys, Tshiamo, and Bongani's bitter ex-wife, Miss Madikizela who was apparently not invited. As much as we would like to drop some more spoilers, we'd rather you wait for the evening, but what we can say is that drama is definitely guaranteed, and we spotted Our Perfect Wedding.
Speaking to us about Zodwa’s dress, head of Gomora's wardrobe department, Julie Palmer, said they did not want Zodwa to wear a white wedding dress because they wanted a lot of colour for her. She said she shared her vision with the designer, Ayanda Sanqela, who then designed a royal blue dress that would pop in the sun.
The wedding scene, which was shot at a sports ground last month is set to leave viewers with a happy ending as the Mzansi Magic soapie will air for the last time in October this year. DStv Viewers' Choice Awards favourite actress award-winner, Mchunu said she felt like it was her real wedding.
Speaking as her Gomora character Zodwa, Mchunu said:
The couple struggled with real-life and relatable problems such as Zodwa’s alcohol addiction, cheating and finances but were able to fight till the day they walked the isle and exchanged vows.

A source told City Press that the two will not have problems in their marriage, even though they will be a blended family with each bringing two children plus Zodwa’s grandchild. Mtsweni said the storyline also taught the viewers that it was okay to move on if things did not work out with one person.
Mtsweni added that the couple’s love story was relatable and had lessons that people could take away.
