Many new traders start their trading with a hunt for a mentor, somebody to guide them through the perils of being a newbie with the hope that some of the mentors’ skills and insights will rub off on the new trader. It’s a fair idea but the problem is simple. There are many more newbies wanting to be mentored than there are seasoned traders prepared to offer the time required – and to be honest, willing to take on the risk. The risk is that one would spend a lot of time mentoring somebody who frankly is not prepared to put in the many long hours. They may rather be looking for a quick fix.
