Almost one in every two South Africans younger than 35 are now jobless, Statistics SA's latest figures show.
"In countries with a large young population, society as a whole can benefit from these young people working and generating taxes, spending and savings that would permeate through the economy," says Christie Viljoen, economist and senior manager at PwC.
