Ahmed Abaza has spoken about his admiration of the PSL after great displays in Egypt this season.

Egyptian defender Ahmed Abaza has disclosed how he follows the DStv Premiership amid what Mamelodi Sundowns have done on the continent in the last decade.

Abaza was in the development structures of Al Ahly and Zamalek but now plays for Tanta in the Egyptian second division, where he has excelled while on loan.

KickOff.com spoke to the 26-year-old on a call from the Egyptian capital Cairo.

"I went to Tanta in January and have played just about every game from the 16 games that we have played," says Abaza.

"My ambition is obviously to play outside of Egypt, especially in Europe, but South Africa does interest me because I follow the league.

"There is nobody who doesn’t know about Mamelodi Sundowns here in Egypt, so I’m sure you understand why I’m saying I’m interested in South Africa.

"The other big teams there are Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs and I also know of SuperSport United because they came to Egypt this season.

"I think if I can get to play outside Egypt, I can be in the national team.

"I’m ready for the next challenge that comes in my career because I’m confident.

"Being a left-footed central defender who can also play left-back, I believe I stand a good chance of growing my career further.

"The loan spell out here at Tanta has been beneficial for me because I have played a lot of football.

"I was in the academy of Al Ahly up to the age of 17 and then moved to Zamalek and afterwards I went to El Gouna," says Abaza.
