The South African entertainment industry's red carpet events are few and far between, so when this weekend came loaded with two red carpets on 2 March, Instagram became a high fashion lookbook we couldn't stop paging through.
With SAFTAs 13 taking place at Sun City on Saturday evening and the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo at Val de Vie Estate under Cape Town's glorious sunshine, the dress code mandates differed ever so slightly. The SAFTAs - like any formal awards ceremony - always calls for its attendees to pull out top tier gowns or suits and not to skimp on the pizzazz.
The #VCMasterPolo, on the other hand, is a day at the polo and requires a slightly more relaxed, yet still head-turning approach to glamming it up.

Of course, our local celebrities and influencers always put their best foot forward for any events on the local fashion calendar worth writing home about, but sometimes what's written is that they don't have a sense of occasion. So while they always look razor sharp, the critique is that their looks are somewhat misplaced.
Well, that was not the case this past weekend, as all the looks that stood out to us each offered a fashion moment we could applaud.
And these were the top five #VCMastersPolo Colourama themed looks that got the people talking:
Nomzamo Mbatha
Hosting the races this year once again with admirable panache as usual, this industry darling was oh-so-appropriately styled by Pumla Ketani in an Orapeleng Modutle jumpsuit and later, a Jessica Molebatsi dress, setting the standard for the day.
You can never go wrong with polka dots on bubbly-filled day complete with scenic views.
K Naomi
Local TV personality K Naomi Noinyane never misses a beat when it comes to dressing for a special occasion. Coral may be Pantone's colour of the year, but celebrities are proving more and more that pink is the way to go in 2019. We love that she paired this Brides Palace pleated tulle top with plain pants.

Jessica Nkosi
The actress opted for a suit this year and completed the look with a Parisian style hat by Precious Cargos.
Ayanda Thabethe
Top Billing presenter Ayanda Thabethe's pretty princess frock by Cinnel looked as good as the Vueve Clicquot Rosé champagne tastes.
Mathapelo Khoza
Another delicious look was brand influencer Mathapelo's cupcake tower-like dress. The pastel colours are what made this look perfect for a daytime red carpet event.
And when the sun went down, the stars came out to play on the SAFTAs red carpet in Sun City.
Here are our five favourite standout moments from this prestigious awards ceremony:
Pearl Modiadie
All eyes were on the evening's host and her flawless Biji La Maison nude illusion gown. The feathers, the embellishments and choice of simple hairstyle all came together to make this a 10/10 look.

Linda Mtoba
We always appreciate that Linda makes an old Hollywood glam story out of her red carpet appearances. This time it looks like she channeled The Great Gatsby's Jordan Baker by enjoying some golf before the awards.
White gown by McCarthy Wolff and to-die-for jewelry by First Diamonds.
Kgomotso Christopher
The Isibaya actress showed up in the perfect gown to accept an award in. We also love the updo.
Penny Lebyane
We don't see this entertainment industry veteran on the red carpet often enough. And after Saturday evening's well-styled look, we'd love to see more of Penny. A special mention must also go to her genes for helping her age backwards.
Mmabatho Montsho
Simple and elegant in a jumpsuit by Abantu Creations.
Finally, we have to give a shout-out to this phenomenal Sho Madjozi red carpet moment.
