- The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards were held at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunday, in Los Angeles, California.
- Channel24 reports that the awards, which do not differentiate between female and male actors, saw the likes of Elizabeth Olsen, the late Chadwick Boseman, and Leslie Jones being honoured with the awards ceremony's coveted golden popcorn statuettes.
- Of course, the red carpet was also a glittery affair where we spotted some of our favourite beauty looks of the night.
- Bright lipstick remains a rare sight even on the red carpet, as gloss and nude tones seal lips under masks, while makeup - as a whole - has gone from ultra glam to barely there.
Awards ceremonies give us at least one reason to look forward to Monday mornings.
If not for the fandom of the films receiving awards, then for the couture moments on and off stage. But do you know what else shines on the red carpet?
The beauty looks.

While there was a handful of brilliant gowns seen at Sunday night's MTV Movie & TV Awards, we've chosen instead to zoom in on the hair and makeup seen on the red carpet.
In true Covid fashion, bright lipstick remains a rare sight even on the red carpet, as gloss and nude tones seal lips under masks, while makeup - as a whole - has gone from ultra glam to barely there.
So from classic looks to striking yet understated makeup brush strokes, these were the 15 beauty looks we enjoyed:
Eye-catching
With winged and bright liner respectively, Lana Condor and Riley Keough prove that pandemic mask-wearing has put all eyes on... well, eyes.
Lana Condor
In Giorgio Armani.
Riley Keough
In Gucci.
Simple symmetry
The middle part is a fail-safe hairdo that will make anyone's best features pop.
Mandy Moore
We love it on an ageless beauty like Mandy Moore who has looked 25 for the past 20 years. She completed this 'do with soft, neutral makeup against her canary yellow Altuzarra gown.
Simply. Stunning.
Antonia Gentry
In Valentino, and just like, Mandy Moore, she opted for a barely there makeup look.
Victoria Pedretti
With an award in hand and decked out in Louis Vuitton, Victoria's middle part is an apt quiet statement to complete the moment.

Edgy and braided
The super long braid, slicked back hair, and laid (swirly-patterned) edges combo remains a red carpet go-to among celebrities. And although we appreciate their jewels, we think the meter-long pony braid/s is the perfect accessory.
Sierra Capri and Madison Bailey added a golden touch to their pony braids, while Yara Shahidi gave us double the charm.

In Haleia.
Madison Bailey
In Versace.
Yara Shahidi
In Yara Shahidi x Adidas.
Cropped and faded
'Cropped and faded' sounds like an image edit, doesn't it?
Well, you could somewhat say so because Yvonne Orji is sporting a whole new look. A fresh break from her usual pristine wigs, the Insecure star is giving us the Zozi sparkle with this fade.
I woke up like this
"No really, I haven't brushed my hair" - is the energy these tousled hairstyles are giving.
And you know what? They're onto something with this made-under beauty theme. We also know achieving a tousled look actually takes time, craft, and heat (perhaps not so much for Kathryn Hahn, but definitely for Jurnee Smollett).
Jurnee Smollett
In Alexandre Vauthier.
Note the subtle winged liner too.
Kathryn Hahn
Elizabeth Olsen
Yes, the WandaVision star earns her own category for this look; channeling Audrey Hepburn with bangs-and-an-updo and a red lip.
Perfectly matched with a Miu Miu piece.
Wig inspo
Haven't you heard? Every girl needs a bone straight, striking blonde, and a curly/wavy wig as part of her arsenal of wigs. At least one of each.
We spotted hairdos matching each of these wig styles on Taylour Paige, Rachel Lindsay, and Madelyn Cline. Whether these stars were rocking their natural hair or not is hardly the point here; we're just saying it's wig inspo.
Bone straight: Taylour Paige
In Gucci.
Curls: Rachel Lindsay
Another strong eye makeup look made for this new masked era.
Blonde: Madelyn Cline
Her eyes? They've got wings too.
