- 2020 has been the year of collaboration for designers and creatives in South Africa. The latest one we're zooming in on is that between South African-born (now living in Australia) jewellery designer Ovazania and Africa’s design maestro Palesa Mokubung of Mantsho.
- The two creators have collaborated to present a capsule collection of fine jewellery to accessorise our masks.
- Plus, we look at more top-drawer earrings from eight local jewellers.
In 2019, Palesa Mokubung of Mantsho became the first African designer to collaborate with retail giant H&M. This was after she had showcased at the BRICS show in October 2018 with fellow designers from Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
And this Women's Month, she collaborated with Miss Universe, Zozi Tunzi, and 1st For Women on the #IAmFearless T-shirt campaign and then later launched her own capsule collection of home décor rugs.

If anyone were to epitomise "finishing strong" then, it would have to be Palesa Mokubung as she has now announced her latest collaboration with South African-born (now living in Australia) jewellery designer Ovazania.
Ovazania is a 100% handcrafted contemporary African-inspired accessories brand. "Inspired by the beat and vibrancy of Africa; we blend traditional and modern African aesthetics with contemporary design to create unique pieces for women around the world."
The collaboration between the two designers was inspired by the fact that masks have become accessories we can't do without, which means people are looking for ways to give this mandatory 'look' a bit more character.
The Mantsho and Ovazania brands therefore thought to add a "stylish flair" to our wardrobes by creating this capsule collection of masked earrings.

More notably, the earrings are a celebration of the incredible craftsmanship and African finesse that both Mantsho and Ovazania represent.
Speaking about this new project, Palesa says, "I think of Ovazania as a sister brand. We have a long time standing relationship and I have used her earrings for many of my Mantsho shows and shoots in the past. What I love the most is that her designs exudes African luxury."
