I like Dove ads. Sure, they tend to be a bit long, and I often find the music rather annoying, but I appreciate what they’re doing with their whole Real Beauty Campaign.
Because yes, we are insecure about our looks and yes, we do feel alienated by a merciless fashion industry and an extreme Photoshopping culture that turns every distinguishing mark or feature into a flaw.
And we’re so damn tired of seeing all these unrealistic images of women all around us, designed to make us feel inadequate and somehow wrong.
So thanks for the Evolution ad, and for the Real Beauty Sketches and for featuring women who are older than 40 years, heavier than 60ks and not only Caucasian.
The latest ad is a bit problematic, though. Women are given a “beauty patch” which is OBVIOUSLY a placebo to “make them more beautiful”.
Yes, a patch. To make you beautiful. And then suddenly all these desperately insecure (but absolutely gorgeous) women gain confidence and people notice them.
Big reveal: The patch is FAKE. Big surprise?: Not at all.
But watch for yourself and tell us what you think…
