Rub a dub-dub in the tub

To create a playful atmosphere team neutral tiles with bands of glass mosaics in bright blue, fresh green or a soft turquoise.

“Colourful tiles such as mosaics bring energy to the bathroom, add texture and grabs the attention,” says decor expert Kate van Niekerk.

Where to begin
Tile the walls in addition to the floor as tiles are exceptionally hard-wearing, hygienic and easy to clean.
Separating the shower, bath and basin is useful when children of varying ages are sharing a bathroom, enabling an older child to bath or shower while the other is supervised, using the basin. Opaque shower doors can be fitted when one child requires more privacy. Alternatively, half walls can be added if the design of the bathroom allows for this.

If space is not a problem, why not choose a family sized spa bath that will provide plenty of enjoyable moments in the tub?

To reduce a cluttered feel, install beautiful and practical mirrors and to ensure that there are adequate hanging space for towels and other accessories, fit double-rodded towel rails.

Two basins and a large mirror are ideal for a children’s bathroom, as this will prevent the little ones squabbling over space.

Safety Tips, compliments of Tile Africa:
•    If the bath and shower have tiled edges, make sure these edges are finished off with a round border.
•    Check that the corners of the shower are finished off smoothly, with no sharp edges protruding.
•    Turn down the temperature of the geyser fitted for this particular bathroom.
•    Ensure that all medicines and cleaning products are safely stored in childproof cupboards.
